This evening I ran out of some household items so I thought I'd make a quick jaunt to ye olde CVS to pick them up. When I walked in there was this... this um.... song? playing. As I wandered through the aisles the lyrics? were becoming clearer and clearer and I realized I was listening to the voice of GOD HIMSELF! Right there in the freakin' Southside CVS! Yep, he was talking over some really bad music which kind of surprised me, considering he's God and all. Seriously, people, wouldn't you call on good old Wolfie Mozart or a little Hendrix or the angelic voice of Jeff Buckley or someone fantastic to back you up? Nope, there was the voice of God backed by bad midi music.
Shocking.
Anyway, as I chuckled out loud to the atrocity that is that song? I got in line with my items. As the woman in front of me (who had a wicked femullet, by the way) was checking out, the CVS employee said "Merry Christmas!" and the woman said rather snippishly "Thank you fer sayin' Murray Chrismus and not Hayppy Holidays!" and the CVS employee said "Nuh uh, honey, it's all Merry Christmas in here!"
I shook my head, chuckled some more and at the end of the transaction, the CVS employee obviously was wise enough to not wish me anything, much less a Merry Christmas.
But I did make sure to wish her Happy Hanukkah as I walked out the door.
Oh happy holidays to ya! This entry made me smile.

I'm with ya, sister. I had a clerk at a quick stop the other day ask me if I was celebrating Christmas or the holidays...I told him that if I had to celebrate anything during this highly commercialized overblown spend-fest, it would probably be the holidays. He gave me a dirty look and refused to respond to me through the rest of the transaction. Crazy!

Oh, how I love you! Perhaps you could join J in her crusade to highlight Hanukkah! I want to make a driedel hat and a Menorah necklace and where them all around town.
